The Alaskan Husky dog is not really a separate breed, but rather a type of dog. Because of the many blood lines involved, it is difficult to classify the dog as a standard breed. They are famous for their dog sled racing abilities. The Alaskan Husky is friendly to people it knows and tolerant to strangers, which makes it a poor watchdog. They seldom bark; they prefer to howl.
